This dodge tourer is unique to queensland australia. Probably the only fullyrestorer one in the world. It was a ground up restoration, including solidtimber framing for body and doors, solid timber floors with leather seats. According to the micro fische received from chrysler usa it is based on a 1937dodge ute (pick-up) chassis and running gear built by the chrysler corp indetroit usa on 9th january 1937 & exported direct to brisbane qld where the bodyetc was built and fitted. It was marketed by austral motors brisbane who werethen chrysler dealers. We have the original advertising brochure which statesthe body is especially braced for extra strength, has real leather on cushionsand squabs and a large luggage compartment behind the rear seat, access to whichis gained by lifting the hinged rear seat squab. The dodge has traveled approx. 5000 miles since restoration and in total 100,200 miles. Electrics have beenretained as 6 volt with 6v quartz halogen bulbs; re-silvered (not chromed)reflectors which give a very good light. The capacity of the generator has beenincreased. A remote booster for the brakes has been fitted to improve braking.
